Screwdrivers with interchangeable tips have been around for quite some time, and their evolution has not always been for the better. The last ten years have been a wasteland, a race to the bottom to make the cheapest tool so the Marts and Depots of the world can wow you with the lowest price. When one passes my desk that does not immediately fail the comfort, utility, and quality triumvirate I look for, well I guess I must share it with you.

The Picquic Company, located in Quebec, has been manufacturing multi-bit screwdrivers for a while now, and their basic approach is sound. This tool forces you to store — not lose — the tip you are exchanging, because you use it to push the new tip out of its storage spot in the handle. Quietly ingenious, it would be of questionable utility if the tips were of poor quality, but they’re not! They’re manufactured from S2 steel, the current top grade of tool steel for this application, and are ground, not forged, giving these tips a precise profile that fits the screw head well.

The latest tool from this company is the Teeny Turner (sans Ike!), and though my first impression was “toy,” I quickly retracted that notion once I used it. This screwdriver is all miniature, like a jeweler’s screwdriver. You can tighten up eyeglasses, hack into your iPhone, or do anything you might need this tool to do, but the difference is the handle. Compared to conventional jeweler’s tools, the cute orange handle on this tool is huge! Now fasteners in the miniature range have a driver that’s anything but “Teeny”. $5.99
